Along with others, Alex Anzalone’s parents, Israel, are faced with a difficult predicament as they navigate the continuing strife.
Being trapped in Jerusalem, Israel has put Alex’s parents, Sal and Judy, in a difficult predicament.
They belong to the Baptist church First Naples and are one of U.S. Representative Byron Donalds’ fifty-three constituents.
Sal and Judy Anzalone: Israel Was Targeted by Hamas Attack on Alex Anzalone’s Parents
Parents of Detroit Lions linebacker Alex Anzalone, Sal, and Judy Anzalone, are victims of the most recent Hamas assault and are now going through a terrifying journey in Israel.
On October 2, 2023, the Anzalones, devoted members of the First Naples Baptist Church, left for the Holy Land as part of a church-organized trip.
They had no idea that a significant uptick in hostilities would coincide with their journey.
A violent and lengthy struggle that has lasted for decades was reignited on Saturday morning by Hamas, a militant Palestinian group with its headquarters in the Gaza Strip.
Declaring the nation to be at war, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised a forceful response to the onslaught.
Sal and Judy Anzalone, along with other churchgoers, are thus stuck in Jerusalem among the chaos and are frantically trying to find a way out and a safe return to the United States.
In addition, the future of Sal and Judy Anzalone and the other churchgoers is still unknown as the battle progresses.
Alex Anzalone’s Message: “His Parents Are Stuck”
Anzalone expressed his deep concern and fear for his parents in an interview with The Detroit News after the Lions’ victory against the Carolina Panthers.
“It’s hard,” he said. He expressed how much this circumstance has affected him emotionally by saying, “It is all I’ve been thinking about.”
In the midst of these difficult conditions, Alex Anzalone shared a video of Congressman Byron Donalds talking about the group’s safety on social media.
Donalds underlined how critical it is to support Americans in the area who are fervently wanting to get back home.
In his since-deleted tweet, Anzalone pleaded with President Joe Biden, saying, “Please get my parents home.”
The future of Sal and Judy Anzalone, as well as those of their fellow churchgoers, is in jeopardy as the war in Israel and Palestine intensifies.
The Detroit News says that the 53 members of the Anzalone family’s church group had been waiting to be evacuated amid the intensifying fighting.
Thank goodness, they were able to get a flight that was scheduled to leave Tel Aviv early on Thursday. But their return trip is now unclear due to the unrest in the area.
Parts of their agenda have been carried out, although carefully, in spite of the pandemonium around them. Tel Aviv continues to be a key site in the battle between Israel and Hamas.
